Origin Story
By: Steven Anderson - Cofounder
Standing at the foot of a snowy mountain after a long day of skiing, the air was crisp and invigorating, a margarita was slowly melting in my hand. Here, amidst the quiet echoes of skiers winding down their day, a lightning bolt of inspiration struck. It wasn’t just a fleeting thought; it was the culmination of years spent in the trenches of health and wellness, a revelation that would eventually lead to the birth of Kaze Human Performance.

Over the past five years, I’ve immersed myself in the health and wellness sector, from the intricate flavors of a renowned tea company to the cutting-edge science of a sports nutrition brand. In both realms, I was part of a team that saw ecommerce sales rocket, yet something was amiss.
In a sudden flashback to my tutelage under a Japanese Tea Master, the delicate aroma of freshly whisked matcha filled the air, weaving a story of centuries-old traditions. Each sip was a step back in time, each leaf a reminder of nature’s power to enhance human performance.
Despite their different approaches—one artisanal, the other analytical—both the tea world and sports nutrition world shared a commitment to wellness. But as I dove deeper, I realized that true potential lay untapped. The rich history, the robust flavors, and the undeniable health benefits of matcha, which had become a staple in my routine, had not been put together with modern science and packaged for athletes like my fellow skiers on the mountain.
Yet, as I stood there in the cold, sipping my drink, I pondered why no one had thought to tailor matcha specifically for athletes like us. The challenge was clear: how could I make this ancient remedy palatable and appealing to my fellow sports enthusiasts? Something sweet, smooth and delicious, almost like this margarita. The answer came swiftly—matcha pineapple. A delicious superfood in its own right, known for its anti-inflammatory properties and gut health benefits, pineapple could be the perfect companion to matcha.
The next day, I ordered freeze-dried pineapple powder, and upon mixing it with my favorite matcha, I knew we had something special. This wasn’t just another supplement; this was food—real, powerful, and delicious. It was a concoction that respected tradition yet embraced modern science, offering benefits that pre-workout supplements could only dream of providing.
Reflecting on this journey, it’s clear that both the tea company’s reverence for culture and the sports nutrition brand’s scientific rigor had shaped my vision. But why choose between tradition and science when you can have the best of both? With Kaze Human Performance, my co-founder Vassi Slaova and I are not just launching a product; we’re spearheading a movement. We’re challenging the industry norms, advocating for a return to natural, holistic methods supported by scientific evidence.
As we prepare to introduce Kaze to the world, we invite you to join us. This isn’t just about selling a product; it’s about changing the conversation in wellness. It’s about building a community that values food and exercise over quick fixes and fleeting trends. Join us, and let’s rediscover the foundations of true wellness together.
